Through my lens

My new lifestyle consists of less ‘work’ and more ‘play. And with that comes dedicated time to get out and snap my surroundings. I have always much preferred taking spontaneous shots of people just doing their thing than the posey type photos. I also love to roam the streets and just snap what grabs my attention. I lug my camera around with me everywhere now, as I found I was previously seeing beautiful things every time I didn’t have it with me! And I love what I see.

While I yet have a lot to learn (A LOT), the technical side of photography is starting to slowly make some sense. I can see where I could improve my shots now, and although I don’t usually notice until I have them on my bigger screen at home, I still love shots that lack technical expertise but have captured a moment I enjoyed. Meanwhile, I don’t mind having to practice some more. Lots more.

As a long time loather of winter, I have found the sky looks different in winter, the air looks colder, and where you would not have caught me anywhere near the coast in the cold previously, I have found myself drawn to the cold with my lens in hand. I notice the more beautiful side of winter now that I am photographing it.

So as I enjoy learning more about photography I find myself wanting to practice every single day. Like anything, you draw experience from getting hands on, and this is one area I don’t mind devoting time to learn more. I know more now than I did last week, I look forward to what next week will bring!
